PhD Candidate in Sociology, University of Wisconsin-Madison
Hello!
My name is Anna Milewski, and I'm a PhD candidate in sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. My research and teaching interests are in political sociology, social movements, sociology of religion, and comparative-historical sociology.
My work on social movement organizations as focal points is published in Mobilization. My dissertation examines the effect of changes in religious authority and partisanship on social movements in the United States in the transition from the 20th to the 21st century and the consequences of this relationship on political inequality.
I am also interested in methods of protest event data collection and newspapers as a source of data. My work leverages novel data sources to build new theory in social movement studies, is typically case-based and often historical, and employs primarily quantitative methods as well as mixed methods.
I hold an M.S. in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a B.A. in Sociology and Anthropology and Economics from Washington and Lee University.
